Job Description

Summary: A Maintenance Technician III (Welder) works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function and has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. The Maintenance Technician III (Welder) maintains and services the plant and mobile equipment in the scrap yard.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Welds, grinding, weld set-up, and torching.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and routine repairs.
  • Conducts periodic safety and maintenance inspections to evaluate replacement equipment and identify wear and damage.
  • Uses technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair equipment, engines, and compressors.
  • Order parts needed for replacement and coordinate with service providers to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and routine repairs, conducts periodic safety and maintenance inspections to evaluate equipment for replacement, and identifies wear and damage.
  • Uses technical diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair equipment, engines, and compressors.
  • Orders parts needed for replacement and coordinates with service providers to complete maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic equipment; primarily loaders, shears, grapple, skid steers, forklifts, tractor/trailer, shredder, conveyor systems, hydraulic systems, PLCโ€™s.
  • Uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or work order system to track and document activities.
  • Follows established safety procedures and regulations for hazardous materials handling.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-5+ years of related experience or may need 2+ yearsโ€™ experience with additional specialized training and/or certification.
  • 3-5+ years of welding experience is a MUST. Welding certifications preferred.
  • Experience with shredder maintenance preferred.
  • Requires a high school diploma.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
