Job description

This position is located within the J4 at MATES, Gatesville, TX. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of welding in support of maintenance activities. Texas is one of 9 states with NO state income tax.

To be considered for qualification, your resume must include relevant experience with beginning and ending dates of employment/experience reflecting the following: Specialized Experience Required: Experience or training demonstrating the application of a variety of electric resistance welding processes and equipment. Experience in using accepted trade methods and a variety of manual welding processes to weld all types of commonly used metals in various shapes, sizes, and thicknesses. Experience using a wider range of metal welding processes to make more difficult welds meeting close tolerance, strength, and other requirements. These welds may be in hard-to-reach places. Experience which allows the welder to devise special jigs and fixtures to hold the parts to be welded. Experience which demonstrates knowledge of several related trade procedures. Experience which enables the lay out and planning of work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders.

Requirements

Appointment Factor(s): This is an Excepted Service position that requires active membership in a compatible military assignment in the Texas Army National Guard (TXARNG) and wear of the military uniform. Applicants must be a current member of the National Guard or be on Active Duty and be eligible and willing for immediate transfer to the Texas Army National Guard. Areas of Consideration: Nationwide Excepted. This includes: All currently employed full-time permanent, indefinite and temporary personnel of the Texas Army National Guard. All current members of the Texas National Guard and individuals eligible for membership in the Texas Army National Guard. Incentives: Acceptance of a military Federal technician position may result in termination and / or repayment of military incentives. Please check your contract and contact your servicing Education Services (Incentives) office or the Recruiting/Retention office. Remarks: Trial period required (see additional information) Veterans' preference is not applicable to this position. Direct deposit is mandatory. Texas Army National Guard Membership is required. Military Requirements: For Dual-Status Technician positions service affiliation under Title 32 USC 709 is required. Military skill set is determined by AFSC/MOS requirements. Upon selection, individuals must be assigned to a compatible military AFSC/MOS in accordance with statutes and National Guard Bureau regulations and must obtain/maintain all requirements of the AFSC/MOS Rank Spread: E-1/PVT not to exceed E-8/MSG MOS: 12, 13, 14, 19, 25, 88, 90, 91, 92, 94 Other Requirements: For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state driver's license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. For positions requiring a security clearance (Secret or Top Secret) the applicant must possess or be able to obtain a clearance within one year of appointment.
