Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-out for this position is performing the following tasks: Must be able to Pass Weld Certification; Must be able to do welding and cutting operations on all weldable metals in all positions (flat, vertical and overhead), (SMAW, MIG & TIG) including pipes, valves and fittings for high-pressure air and steam. All welds require complete fusion, no slag inclusion and minimum melt through. Root concavity, including centerline shrinkage, shall not exceed 1/32" for welds in pipe less than 2" nominal size or 1/16" for welds in pipe 2" or larger. Uses weldable inserts and backing rings that must be completely melted and fused to base metal on both sides. Slag indications must conform to radiographic standards, for example a 6" length of weld 1" thick can have no indications greater than 1⁄2". When welding piping of less than a 2" diameter, radiographic indications of root undercutting may not exceed 0.016 inches or 1/64". Additionally, may be qualified in trades of brazing and silver soldering.
