THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This position is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of welding in support of maintenance activities. DEFINITION OF AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION: Area 1 = On-board technicians currently assigned to the Louisiana National Guard.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess the experience or training that has provided the candidate with the basic knowledge of welding processes. Must have knowledge of technical orders, blueprints, and specifications? SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess at least Twenty-Four (24) months of experience or training demonstrating the application of a variety of electric resistance welding processes and equipment; experience in using accepted trade methods and a variety of manual welding processes to weld all types of commonly used metals in various shapes, sizes, and thicknesses; experience using a wider range of metal welding processes to make more difficult welds meeting close tolerance, strength, and other requirements; these welds may be in hard-to-reach places; experience which allows the welder to devise special jigs and fixtures to hold the parts to be welded; experience which demonstrates knowledge of several related trade procedures; experience which enables the lay out and planning of work from blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work order. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT & NOTES: 1. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position. 2. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. 3. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission. *4. Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. 5.
