The Chico Area Recreation \& Park District (CARD) is hiring dependable, skilled, and motivated individuals to join our Parks crew.

**About the Role:**

As a Utility I, you'll perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled taskstasks maintaining, modifying, building, and repairing park structures, equipment, facilities, and grounds.. This role is essential to ensuring safe, clean, and welcoming environments for the Chico community.

**Key Responsibilities:**

* Inspect facilities, playgrounds, fixtures, structures, grounds, pools, and equipment to identify deficiencies, unsafe conditions, and/or maintenance and custodial needs.
* Identify and conduct necessary repairs, improvements, and preventative maintenance for various needs including equipment maintenance, structural maintenance, floors, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, irrigation, etc.
* Build positive working relationships with coworkers, vendors, and community partners.
* Perform other duties as assigned.

**Skills \& Abilities:**

*Some or all of these skills may need to be utilized during the course of employment. Utility I's may be asked to use and/or develop skills on an as needed basis:*

* Construction, welding, and structural methods and practices used in park facilities.
* Installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial plumbing fixtures.
* Installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical fixtures and lighting.
* Horticultural principles and practices, including the installation, repair, and programming irrigation systems.
* Maintain swimming pools, aquatic equipment, and facilities.
* Ability to repair and maintain tools and equipment.
* Knowledge of equipment and material procurement procedures.

**Who We're Looking For:**

* High school diploma or equivalent, plus two or more years of experience in parks and/or building maintenance.
* Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting over 50 pounds and working in varied indoor and outdoor conditions.
* Comfortable working with tools, equipment, and around chemicals.
* Knowledge of safety practices, accident prevention techniques, and occupational hazards.
* Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
* Willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends.

**Licenses \& Requirements:**

* Valid California Driver's License of appropriate class.
* Ability to pass a Department of Justice Live Scan background check and Physical.

**Job Type:**Full-time

**Schedule:** 40 hours per week

**Work Location:**Parks and CARD Facilities within Chico
