Job description

Quality Engineer is responsible for implementing and analyzing quality policies and procedures to ensure quality improvement efforts will meet or exceed internal and external customers' needs and expectations. Assist in management of welding program by documenting and recording welder qualifications to meet industry and customer specifications.

**++Essential Functions:++**

· Internal lead for Omaha Steel supplier quality including assessments of Omaha Steel suppliers and coordinating 3rd party audits of Omaha Steel supplier processes.

· Develop, implement and modify quality system procedures to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 or other applicable industry standards.

· Lead internal ISO audit team and conduct internal process quality and ISO audits.

· Primary responsibility for maintaining document control per established procedures and in line with ISO 9001 requirements.

· Responsible for preparation before and facilitation of 3^rd^ party audits of our processes and castings (including ISO Registrar and Customers).

· Review all customer requests for regulatory declarations (3TG Conflict Materials, REACH, ROHS, Cal Prop 65, Cert of Origin, etc.), prepare and distribute completed declarations in an accurate and timely manner.

· Work closely with other technical and engineering team members to develop processes and procedures that meet or exceed customer requirements regarding alloy, welding, heat treat, and nondestructive testing.

· Work closely with customers on customer needs. Handle all customer complaints in conjunction with the Technical Director, including documentation of root cause analysis.

· Assist in establishment of techniques and procedures, interpret codes, standards, and specifications

· Assist in the development of standard operating procedures, work instructions, and inspection checklists.

· Participate in new product development projects including First Article and PPAP preparation and submission.

· Participate, lead and facilitate problem solving teams.

· Participate, lead and facilitate in supplier development.

· Prepares quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations.

· Leads in the day-to-day requirements of internal scrap review including documentation of internal scrap

· Leads in issuance of return material authorizations, log and disposition all returned materials on time.

· Manages quality alerts and communicates to respective department supervisors.

· Perform any and all other job-related tasks as assigned.

**++Skills or Experience required++**

Associates degree or 4 year bachelor's degree material science preferred but not required. Experience related in a quality and manufacturing environment. Have a background or training in liquid penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing. Experience with welding processes and would be beneficial to be a certified welding inspector. Understanding of metrology, with the ability to utilize several types of measuring devices, such as calipers, micrometers and coordinate measuring machines. Knowledge of ISO 9000 compliance and experience participating in or facilitating problem solving teams.

Must have the ability to identify and implement statistical metrics and measures. Must have exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels. Must possess excellent problem solving and organizational skills and can handle multiple projects and the flexibility to change when necessary. Must have the ability to regularly lift up to 40 lbs. (employees are encouraged to seek assistance when lifting over 50 lbs. and assistance is readily available.) Work in or near extremes in temperatures and dusty environment
