Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Fabrication Supervisor, while demonstrating a commitment to quality, efficiency and accuracy, the Fabricator is responsible for general labour tasks such as rolling, detailing parts, by grinding, deburring, cleaning parts or completing the final assembly of parts products.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Read and interpret work orders.
* Operate metal cleaning equipment such as deburrers, grinders and shot blasters to remove excess welds, rust, scale and other material from surfaces of metal parts, castings and other metal products.
* Polish metal products to mirror finish.
* Cut, grind or chip excess metal from metal products using hand tools.
* Assist metalworking machine operators or other metalworkers.
* Sort metal sheets and parts, scrap metal and other materials.
* Clean work areas and equipment.
* Assemble products.
* Any other duties as assigned.
Working Relationships
* Identifies and reports any and all quality issues, defects and non-conformance to Fabrication Supervisor \& Q.A.
* Discusses productivity issues with Fabrication Supervisor and or Lead hand.
* Collaborates with fellow co-workers and other departments.
Required Skills/Abilities

* Strong organizational and time management skills.

Education and Experience
* Successful completion of Grade 12.
* Previous welding experience in a manufacturing setting is an asset.
* Experience using ERP systems.
* Know and understand the WHMIS labelling system.
Physical Requirements
* Standing for extended periods.
* Repetitive tasks.
* Manual dexterity.
* Attention to detail.
* Hand-eye coordination.
* Able to lift 50lbs.
* Physically able to twist and bend frequently.
Working Conditions
* 40-hour workweek, with the potential of Overtime.
* Fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* High noise levels.
* Fumes, vapours, and gases.
* Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.
